Bespoke Joinery & Superyacht Services
Fairlie’s experience in the building traditional external joinery for our own restorations has led to other projects seeking our assistance in building deck structures and more modern items for a range of large classic motor and sailing yachts. We have worked on yachts including; Bluebird, Nahlin, and Shemara, all over a period of 15 years. We have built wheel-houses, skylights, ladders, deck boxes, traditional ships’ wheels, masts and spars, to name a few projects.
Above is a wheelhouse 11 metres long 6 metres wide, the curved front and sides have numerous teak panels, which were laminated onto a plywood core to give added stability. This wheelhouse was sent by road to Hamburg, for an extremely prestigious superyacht restoration project. Logistics management came as part of the service as well as the obvious quality of craftsmanship that our clients expect.
Our joiners have learned many ways of keeping large flat panels stable over the years leading to us supplying many large section teak items for a wide variety of projects. Designers have often approached us to supply beautiful individual art pieces such as wheels, coffee tables etc.
The application of finishes to these structures and furniture is paramount in avoiding movement in the hotter areas of the world. Our finishing team, now operating as subcontractors, are specialists at using the right products and applications to ensure the best result.
