Read morePaul Spooner, Chief Naval Architect at Fairlie Yachts, has been working on the designs of an 80ft classic retro-look houseboat for a British client with an exclusive London mooring. The remit for the design was to create the maximum live-able space within the planning regulations and to have a classic maritime feel.
Paul’s design has a paddle steamer meets gentleman’s motor yacht feel to it and offers four bedrooms, large living/dining/kitchen space, study, laundry and al fresco dining area. The top deck also boasts a sunken glass deck conservatory which doubles as a skylight to bring maximum light to the areas below.
Fairlie Yachts were initially commissioned to produce conceptual designs, and have now been instructed to produce structural drawings. It is expected that the steel houseboat will be constructed in the South of England. Check out more images of the house boat on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/fairlieyachts
